The Sincerity of A Chicken Family
By Binti Qoiriyah
A long
time ago, in an isolated village, lived a chicken family who loved each other.
They were Mister and Mrs. Chickey. Yet, as long as they were to be, they
haven’t got a child. Their biggest wish was getting a child.
One
morning when they had breakfast.
“Dear,
when will we get a son?” Mrs. Chickey complained.
“Be
patient, dear! We have to believe that we will get it.” Mr. Chickey explained.
He has finished his breakfast. “Dear, I’ve finished my breakfast, and now I
have to go to work. I’ll go, dear.” He left the dinning room.
“Be
careful, dear! Back home early! I’ll cook special dishes for you.” Mrs. Chickey
said.
“Okey, see
you later.’ He left and went to his cornfield. The location wasn’t too far from
his house.
After the
day was noon, he remained what his wife said, that he had to return home early.
He decided to leave his field and return home immediately. When he was at a
path, he discovered an egg undeliberately at the edge of the road. It was bigger
than a chicken’s egg. He thought why there was an egg here. Then, he brought it
to his house and gave it to his wife to be cooked for dinner.
“Dear, I’m
back. Look up what I bring today!” He showed it to his wife.
“What’s
that? A big egg? Where did you get it from?” She asked curiously.
I don’t
know. I think it’s a bird’s egg.” He explained. “Cook it for dinner tonight,
dear!” He asked. Then, he brought it tonthe kitchen.
“May I
hatch it, dear?’ She suddenly asked that question.
“Hahaha”
He laughed. “ Are you serious? We don’t know what it is. Maybe, it’s an egg of
wild animal. It’s dangerous.” He forbidded.
Please,
give me a chance! I want to hatch it, dear.” She begged.
“Oh My
God. What happen with you, dear?” He thought. “Ohh, what should I do? Hmm ,,,“
He groaned. A few minutes later. “ Okey. I can’t refuse your appeal, dear.” He
permitted.
“Really?
Thanks, dear. You’re my best husband in the whole world.” She praised.
They took
care it until it hatched. After it hatched, they knew that it was an egg of
killer hawk. But, they don’t care about it, because they thought that it was
just a little baby bird. They kept raising their baby until their baby grew up
to be a big hawk. They gave him a name, Prinz. Prinz had been able to speak and
his body grew bigger than Mr. and Mrs. Chickey.
“Mom! Why
don’t we look alike? Are you sure that I’m your child?” He asked anxiously. “We
are so different. I have wings and I can fly. I’m also bigger than you.” He was
suspicious.
“Oh my
lovely son, the same or not, it’s not important. You’re my son and always be my
son.” She explained.
“But,
another chicken says that I’m a predator. I’m a wild animal, but why did you
raise me as your son?” He asked.
You’re a
kind animal, my son. Don’t care about what they said. I believe that you’ll
never hurt the others.” She explained.
One day, a
food scarcity and prolonged summer occurred in their village. There was no fish
in their river where as the fish was being a duty food for Prinz. If there was
no fish anymore, what should Mr. and Mrs. Chickey do and what could they do to
keep their eat sufficient. The anxieties came to them. They were afraid if
their son hungry and finally he hunted the chickens around of their village.
“Mom! I’m
hungry.” Prinz said.
”Really?
Wait me at dinning room. I’ll prepare your food, my son.” Mrs. Chickey said.
She didn’t know what to do because her husband couldn’t get some fish for her
son.
“What
should we do, dear? She asked to her husband. She was very confused.
“There’s
no choice, we have to do our plan that we’ve made before.” Mr. Chickey
explained.
“It’s all
for our son. I’m willing. “ she agreed. Then they came to dinning room.
“My son,
are you really hungry?” Mr. Chickey asked.
“Yes, dad.
Where is my food?” Prinz asked.
“No food
today, but if you really hungry, you can eat us.” Mrs. Chickey explained.
“What?” He
shocked. “ What is mom and dad talking about?” He shouted.
“Actually,
we’ve run out of our food. You’re father can’t find some fish for you. Forgive
us, my son!” She demanded.
“It’s
crazy. How can I eat my own parents. Although, I’m not your biological child, I
keep regarding that you’re my parents. You’re the people who raise me. I’ll
never hurt you.” He explained. “If our situation is like this, please allow me
to hunt my food by myself at the jungle. I promise, I’ll never hunt chickens
who live at this village.” He begged.
“I get it,
son. I trust to you. We’ll give you permit to hunt at the jungle.” Mrs. Chickey
said.
Finally,
Prinz was allowed to hunt his food by himself at the jungle. A few months
later, the bad condition started to be alright. After the rainy season came,
the food sources have been fulfilled and everything went back to be normal.
